Dr. Andrea N. Polonijo is a medical sociologist with expertise in health disparities. She holds a PhD in Sociology from the University of British Columbia (2018) and a MPH in Health Promotion from the University of Toronto (2009). Her PhD research, published in Social Science & Medicine and the Journal of Health and Social Behavior, used quantitative methods to investigate the pathways that shape socioeconomic and racial-ethnic inequalities in human papillomavirus vaccination. As a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at SARAVYC, Dr. Polonijo is tracking health disparities and protective factors among ethnoculturally diverse lesbian, gay, and bisexual youth to inform culturally relevant interventions for families.
